The city's Public Works department had an open house yesterday. I went with a friend and took the three boys with me. The main attraction, for the kids, was a jumping castle and a giant sandbox with trucks provided. There were also heavy equipment displays and a smoke house to learn about fire safety. There were also two robots that roamed the grounds that Cory found extremely entertaining. Cory was very nervous going into the smoke house, so I went with him. He did great until there was mention of smoke - even though he was assured it was fake. He flipped out, so the fireman said he could leave. He was the oldest in the group, and when the younger kids saw Cory so scared, they all got scared too. Over half the group had to leave before the "smoke" (sugar water) came out.
You may notice that in the pictures with Bryson, he's got a bandaid on his finger. His finger got smashed by the door a few days ago, and his fingernail is hanging on by a thread. The bandaid kept falling off while we were at the open house, so we kept having to ask people for first aid kits. You may also notice the blue mustache that Cory has in the pictures. There may have been an epidemic because several of the children were running around with the same symptom. Or maybe it was just the snow cone he ate...hmmm... Dallin fared wonderfully. He had lots of entertainment watching all the kids running around. He really wanted to join them, though. All in all, a very fun afternoon.
